Watching Wild Birds

The site's focus is on North American (USA and Canada) wild birds. Wild bird identification, attracting wild birds to your garden, and feeding birds. This is a personal website sharing my favorite birding pastimes - watching and identifying birds and their behaviors.

Through backyard planting and much reading and research I have discovered many interesting facts and techniques for attracting birds and butterflies. Those facts and tips is what this website will share and explore. We'll also cover:

some 'gardening is for the birds' ideas,

Online Bird Book

Currently we are working on an online bird book for you! Not only is this an enjoyable read, but it aids in identifying many common US and Canadian birds. Titled: Wild Bird Neighbors - An Introduction to 150 Birds Commonly Found in Nearby Gardens, Meadows, and Woods, the original text was first published in 1897. We're working on updating the content into modern language and will be including bird pictures for you. A number of birds are already online and grouped according to habits, size and color.
