Visual Basic: I do not want the user to type the text in the textbox? I want to scan instead.?
Private Sub TxtBarCode1_Change () If Len (Trim (TxtBarCode1.Text)) = 8 Then xbarcodeDigit TxtBarCode1_LostFocus = True End If End Sub Private Sub txtCelPartNo_KeyPress (KeyAscii As Integer) Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset, ssql As String If KeyAscii = 13 Then If txtOldCelPartNo <> "" Then If = Then txtOldCelPartNo txtCelPartNo ssql = "select * From where feeder_master trim (UPPER (model)) = '"& Trim (UCase (LBLmodel)) &"' and trim (UPPER (machine)) = '"& Trim (UCase (cboMachine)) &"' and trim (UPPER (feederno)) = '"& Trim (UCase (TxtFeederNo)) & "'and trim (UPPER (celpartno)) ='" & Trim (UCase (txtCelPartNo)) & "' and trim (UPPER (LINENO)) = '"& Trim (UCase (cboLineNo)) &"' "Set rs = TrnCn.Execute (ssql) If => 1 then lblStatus.Caption rs.RecordCount = "Correct Part Number" Other lblStatus.Caption = "Bad Part Number" MsgBox "NO bad play.", VbCritical, "NO bad play." End If
Today barcode scanners attached to computers via a cable "Y" and act like keyboard parts. Therefore, if you scan a bar code or use the keyboard is almost undetectable from a program. Your method of loooking at length is valid, assuming that the check digit is not included in the text below the barcode. A method I have been lucky in the past is to measure the ticks between strokes and find a value that could work Most of the time. 50 ms is a good place to start. The only failure in this method is that if the user selects a key and that holds the input will be treated as a bar code when in fact it is seized. The reason I need this functionality has been to strip a carriage return embedded in the scanner input. I do not know why you need to detect the difference between the input Key vs. scanned, but the reason may change the approach.
