Identify, feed, help and attract wild birds to your yard and garden.

Birdbath Bird

There is a chill in the air. Winter is coming. As supply decreases insects, birds will be looking for other sources food. How many birds you see at your feeder? That depends on how you configured your yard or garden. In this article, I review some easy steps that anyone can take to be virtually guaranteed to attract a wide variety of wild birds.
First, consider the basic needs of wild birds. They are the same three requirements that all animals and people share – food, water and shelter. Consider these two questions at once.

Food

If you throw a handful of seeds or stale bread on your lawn, you will attract birds. (See, I I said it was easy!) Of course, you'll also attract squirrels, raccoons, cats, opossums and many insects. The birds that come around May only be starlings, sparrows and crows. If you're not selective about the birds you attract, and this you do not mind having a few other bugs crawling around and feeding for birds could be as simple as that. This is not the method preferred by most birders backyard. To be more selective of birds (and thus reduce the number prowlers side), just be a little more selective about the type of food offered. Black seed oil and sunflower seed mixtures several are available in many supermarkets, usually more profitable in food stores and garden centers. These foods attract a wide variety of wild birds, including chickadees, nuthatches, chickadees, sparrows, sparrows and cardinals. They can be placed in tube feeders or platform feeders, tube feeders being more selective to songbirds smaller.
Suet, which is raw beef or mutton fat, is a large, high-energy food for birds. Suet can be purchased in preformed blocks to the supermarket, buys untrained slaughter, or formed by hand on beef trimmings in your own kitchen. Suet, which is often mixed with nuts or seeds as a bird added bonus, is particularly beneficial in the cold months winter when the birds can really use the extra calories Boost.
Fruits, berries and even peanut butter are also good for attract wild birds. Whatever the variety of foods you choose, always keep the feeder clean to protect against bacteria that can harm the birds.

Water

Every living thing on earth needs water. A birdbath good will attract many birds, some are pure insectivores and do not use bird feeders. Water in a birdbath should not be more than three inches deep to attract the greatest variety of wild birds. It is preferable that the floor of the basin is fairly light in color, that birds can clearly assess the depth. The floor of the basin should also slope gently to the deepest part, and should be textured for help with bird foot. The bird bath itself could be placed on a pedestal, hanging from a branch or pole, or, if there no danger from cats, she may be placed directly on the ground. In winter, it may be necessary to add hot water to keep from freezing, the Skaters that most birds are poor.
The antics amusing to look around a fountain is an entertaining experience for birdwatchers farmyard. Birds of various species, often perch around the rim, the projection of sporadic, drinking and preening in the water.

Shelter

Several times, providing shelter for birds is easy. Place your feeder in a place that is near some trees. The birds will fly through the trees when they seek protection from weather or predators. Make sure there are no shrubs or herbs high (or any other place where a cat may ambush) within 12 feet of the manger. The birds are from there.
Over the years we have encroached the field of Birds, polluted air and water, and also contributed to a change in the natural balance that has the survival of many species of birds concerned. We need to give them a little help. The recent conservation efforts have done much in this regard, but there still a long way to go. Feed the birds and take another step to a happier, healthier.

Hummingbird Feeders

Hummingbird Havens

The ruby-throated hummingbirds have crossed the scope of the Gulf of Mexico and were located throughout Texas, the Louisiana and the coast of Florida. It is time to prepare your yard.

Simply put, there is a huge fascination for these small packages. It is just such a fascination that fuels the desire to find a way to attract hummingbirds to our yards. How can we attract these amazing dynamo of your yard? It is a question often asked of me, sometimes seriously and sometimes in frustration.

The solution to this problem is to garden for Hummers. Attention should be given the choice of flowers and nectar plants and trees for nesting. It is important to remember that these birds are visual. They have not smell because they have no sense of smell. Therefore, choose plants with colorful flowers tubular, red flowers being best. And yes, there are plants that serve to attract butterflies and Hummers. My preference is to choose native plants specific to your area for they require less maintenance and watering.

In the south, Texas Betony, Penstemon, Bee Balm, Blue Sage Shrimp Plant, Turkish and Cap are excellent choice. In the west, Firecracker Penstemon, Obedient Plant, Columbines fit the bill. In north-east, we could try fireweed, Cardinal Flower, Bee Balm, and Virginia bluebells.

Nesting trees include but are not limited to Red Buckeye or Tulip tree in the south and southeast, Desert Willow in the south-west Buckeye, California and New Mexico Locust on the west, and basswood in the Northeast.

It should provide cribs as well as the flowers of these wonders hum. Certainly, the birds will be attracted by the flowers and feed on them first. However, the feeders will increase food supply and continue to provide food after the flowers have disappeared. We must consider when buying a _blank> hummingbird "> http://www.kingbirdfeeders.com/Accessories.htm"> Hummingbird Feeder has a large number of ports. The ports plus fewer battles occur in territorial birds. Someone may want to buy even more numbers of feeders and place them in different location the court to reduce the territorial dispute. Place the feeders there is much room to maneuver and escape for Hummers but enough nearby for easy access to cover. In other words, it's better if there is 360 degree access around the falls, but not too far from a tree or bush in which the Hummer can find shelter.

Prepare your garden and feeders is a great adventure. This is a activity that will provide many months of pleasure. Then things buzzing in your garden!

Country Diner

Oh, the wailing, weeping and gnashing of teeth over the murder last week in Fort Hood, a tragic example of what Americans call an "isolated" event that occurs almost daily.

  • The next day, Jason Rodriguez entered an office building in Florida, killing one and several injured.
  • Gunfire erupted at a bar near the ski resort of Vail, Colo., on Saturday night, killing one and wounded three others.
  • In Cleveland, TX, authorities called to check a home in rural southeast Texas said the bodies of four people had been killed firearm.
  • A British tourist, Thomas Reeve, 28, was killed when a man entered a bar in Amarillo, Texas, and opened fire.
  • More than ten bodies were discovered at the home of a rapist in Cleveland, OH.
  • Authorities in Reading, PA say a Maryland man died after a weekend shooting at an illegal bar, which also injured six people.
  • Three people including a young child died and six were injured in a shooting in Walterboro, SC.
  • A son of Lieutenant-Governor Washington State has been injured in a shooting at Work Kent, WA.

All these "isolated" incidents have occurred in less than a week. America is a killing field! He been for a very long time. "Killeen, TX, in 1991, is to watch a recording of the spotlight shone on it when a man walked into a cafeteria and killed 22 diners. "

In America, children are killing children (Columbine), children kill their parents, parents killing their children and another foreign kidnap and kill children, foreigners killing foreigners, the government agents to kill citizens (Kent State, Waco), the college students killing other students (VA Tech), former employees kill those with whom they worked, anti-abortionists abortion kills police called to help the mentally ill and otherwise challenged often end up killing them, soldiers often kill fellow soldiers and civilians. None of this is unusual. This happens every day. If John Dos Passos was alive today he would be reissued in the U.S. several volumes!

So why all the lamentations about the shooting at Fort Hood? Perhaps it is that police killed the troops? What is unusual is usually the reverse. Perhaps the shooter's name and religion? Is the fuss all about drumming up anti-Islamic attitudes? Is it part of the war against Islam? Oh, sorry, the war against terror?

I do not know the answer, but I know there's nothing unusual in this event. Americans are trained to kill. We are amused by it in movies and television. Our children are encouraged to accept play-killing computer games. And we have often stressed to the breaking point. Counsel for the gunman in the attack Orlando office said: "This guy is a compilation the first page of any year of unemployment, foreclosure, bankruptcy, divorce, all constraints. It looks like a classic case of overload stress. "America is full of well-armed men who have to act like animals at bay.

These events are not surprising. What is surprising is who gets killed. Then with a group of colleagues to break some time ago, someone said: "The Americans destroy a large number of people. Unfortunately, they kill the bad. "Historically, oppressed people have killed their oppressors, the French in the French Revolution, the Russians in the Revolution of 1917, the Irish Republican Army in Northern Ireland, the Bader-band Mannheim in Germany, the Red Brigades in Japan, the Tamils of Sri Lanka, the Muslim fighters killing NATO forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Pakistan, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in the Philippines. But not in America, at least not yet. In America, the oppressed kill each other. Strange! How long will they last?

U.S. politicians argue that America is the free-world leader. But what other country would take America in this way? (Perhaps Culture stupid British from whom we acquired the roots of this vulture-oops!.) It is remarkable that since 1789, about 70 nations have become democratic, but not one has copied the U.S. model. Who we are leading where? Maybe ourselves to perdition.
