Always check food regularly to ensure it is dry and free of mold and cleaning around the feeder deter wasps, ants and other predators. If squirrels are a problem in your garden, be sure to buy a squirrel feeder evidence of birds.

Provide fresh water for birds

For bird houses mounted on metal studs slip a large PVC pipe on the pole before mounting the birdhouse. This will deter squirrels, snakes and raccoons from climb to the birdhouse. You can also smear vegetable oil on the pipe.

Cats

Fit your cat with a collar with a bell to keep it from sneaking on birds.
